At Character creation, you can chose between different features for how your character will look in game. One of these is the haircut.
- At Release, there were 4 styles to choose from.
- With Throne of Destiny, 3 more styles were added.
- During the Shedding Skin event 27 additional generic haircuts were added as well as 4 female only hairstyles and 5 male only hairstyles, resulting in 43 basic hairstyles, with small changes to the hairline by adjusting the eyes.
- Also during the Shedding Skin event, Barbers were introduced, where for a small fee you could change your characters look.
- During the Shifting Shadows and A Rising Darkness patches, textured hair styles were introduced: 31 variations on the generic existing hairstyles, 6 variations on the existing female only, 5 on the existing male only ones, and newly introducing 10 new generic, 5 new male only, and 3 new female ones.
- The old, non-textured ones, are NOT available through the Barbers or Creation Screen anymore.
- Not all the old hair styles have been made available with a corresponding texture (see below).
- The slight variations to the hairlines when changing the eyes also disappeared.
- Shadows got access to purple/pink hair
- The extra 13 hairstyles added to the game with the A Rising Darkness patch resulted in 41 generic hairstyles, as well as 10 male only and 9 female only, resulting in a total of 51 hairstyles for males and 50 for female characters
- Undead have, with 24 for each of the female zombie and skeleton characters and 25 for each of the male zombie and skeleton characters, less hairstyles available. The "dreadlock" resembling style introduced during Plans within Plans is unavailable at barbers or for new characters
Also at the Barbers, Empyreans can chose to become "earthbound", and Undead and Shadows can let the particle effects (the flaming skull or the Shadow crown) be removed.

Hairstyles available to any human-type character
- Note: this includes the Isparian, Shadow and Empyrean type characters. Undead have a limited amount of hairstyles available
- Note: none of these hairstyles have a textured alternative. However, some newer hairstyles come close (see the Shedding Skin variations).
